Park Planning Postponed

October 2009
"A decision was reached by Arvilla Ohlde, [Parks Department] Interim Director, in consultation with County leadership - to postpone discussion of structures at Norwegian Point Park at this time." - - Matt Keough

Engineering study conducted for repair of decking and
required permits. Structures will be made safe.

Next Steps:
Structures to be maintained for potential
future uses. Acquire funding to redevelop the park.
RCO Grant applications for development will be resubmitted in the 2010 biannual RCO funding cycle.

Parks Department to Continue Public Process for Park Buildings


Spring 2009
The future of the buildings will be brought to area citizens for their review and input in spring 2009.  (Note: In fall 2009 - process postponed)
 

Historic Structures Report

November 2008
This Historic Structures Report is intended to provide:
- Identification of character-defining features of the site, buildings, and structures
- Discussion of the physical integrity of the site, buildings, and structures
- Recommendations related to the maintenance of the site, buildings, and structures and cost estimates
- Evaluation of potential uses for the site and its buildings addressing potential impacts and costs.
- An estimate of implementation costs.

County Commissioners Approve Master Plan


Sept. 8, 2008

The Kitsap County Board of County Commissioners approved the passive elements of the Norwegian Point Park Master Plan.  An addendum regarding the historic structures on the park property will be added to the Master Plan at a later date.
